Jon Hall, San Diego

Yes, it's 116 degrees during the day, but the mornings and evenings in the desert are truly spectacular. When I shot this photo of the Santa Rosa Mountains looking south yesterday afternoon, it looked unreal, like a painting. The impossibly brilliant, golden reflection of the sun off the lower mountains, set against a perfectly complimentary color of deep purple and blue of the mountains in shadow, and the sky. Behind me was a thunderhead exploding up, and dumping rain on the mountains to the north. It does me good to see such things.

Working a full-time gig, helping my wife submerge into our neighborhood through a retail business, raising a family of three girls, and being part of NieuCommunities (a true privilege) makes for a full plate. Time like this is the desert do me good.
